When you restored your cruisen panels, what did you do for the bubble window gaskets? Did you just carefully take the old one's out and put them back in once painted, or do you have a source for new gaskets??

I would like to take my windows out for painting but I'm affraid to mess up the gaskets, then not be able to get new ones!!

I have had a couple of C/W's, and never pulled out those windows, but I would be very careful doing it.   The 'chrome rings' look like they might hold the glass tight in the rubber, and all the ones I have seen appear to have shrunk.  If anything that would be something to look into before pulling them out.  I have seen similar stuff at autobody supply places.

Pintogirl, sorry about the delay! I haven't been on here for a while. Lencost told me you had a question about the CW port holes. I just poped mine out of the panels. They came out VERY easy. The rubber is good and not cracked. If yours is cracked I would ask one of the rust belt guys if they have any good gaskets. The only problem I had was the "chrome" trim. It was brown, of course. I figured that I would just take it out and run them with out. Not the case. They MUST be there in order to help hold the rubber in the panel. Without the chrome trim they flop about. I just sanded mine and painted them low gloss black. I know that stuff is generic but I don't know where to find it. I will keep looking and let you know when I do.
