1977 Wagon with manual brakes
1980 hatchback - power brakes = parts car

OK... so what will I need from from the hatchback to convert the wagon to power brakes?

I know I need the booster... what else? pedals? proportioning valve? etc...

I have read were there is a plate that is under the pedal mount that needs to be changed, but I never did that swap to know for sure so look at that while you are there.

Yes, the brake pedal is different, as well as the push rod to the master, the lines, and yes, swap the valve while your there. It might look the same, but I don't know if they are different.

Thanks Bill, I will pull it all, take lots of pictures and consider the options

another thought... what about power steering '80 has it, '77 wagon doesn't, easy swap?

Change the entire rack including inners and outers, pump, brackets, belts, lines, cooler, and the rag joint.

that's what I thought... a lot of work, think I'll stick to the power brakes, them I like and would be worth the conversion.  Grin

power steering really isn't required in a Pinto

Ive done the power to manual brake swap.
The steering collumn needs to be dropped or taken out to swap the plate. Or you can drill new holes and cover the old. I drilled new holes after trying the hard way.
Its pretty obvious where to drill the holes.
I made a cover from metal taken out of the 79s hood.
I used the same proportioning valve and used a new master cylinder.

I may have had to swap the bolts too.
I guess just reverse what I did. Grin
Heres a link to my swap photo album. Its has these photos and others. In case anybody hasnt seen it yet.
