It was like Christmas for Cookieboy today...

first more printed info arrived I was looking forward to...

In July 1970 Advanced Vehicle Engineers (AVE) first announced their idea to the public. A car with removable wings and at that time a Pontiac Firebird was mentioned as the first test and soon to be flying. We know later it was a Ford Pinto to get the wings but before that.... a Firebird was it. Concept art was done, I will be adding it to my website and the info included but for now see below for a teaser picture  Grin

Also, Fred Morgan with his contacts at the FAA and with Aviation history was able to find and send me some good stuff. I hope to go thru that and get something added to my website later. In the stuff he sent was a picture seen below that I had not seen before from a newspaper in September 1973. It shows a better view of the crash and the Pickup and trailer that was hit when it came down.

This car is not just part of Pinto history, but of American history, and as excited as the Pinto community is about the finding of a car that was thought to be lost forever, it’s important to remember the people as well. We would like to honor those people for not only having the ability to dream big (very big), but to also have the courage and determination to turn it into a reality; a step so few of us ever take. The Pinto community would like to take this opportunity to express our sincerest condolences to the families of the two people that passed on that tragic day so long ago.
